Embracing the Power to Design a Bright Future
Hello, I’m Pamela Clark. I started the Widows Now initiative in 2022 as a newfound widow in 2020. To be a part of such a precious group of people has helped me realize that we need one another, and so do our communities. The Widows’ voice matters.
I remember when my daughter and son-in-law were home for the funeral of my husband in Aug. 2020 they received a call that one of their friends had passed from an aneurysm leaving his 38-year-old wife with 2 young children. How devastating!
In the 2020 census report, there were 11.28 million women who became widows. The financial blow to households decreased by up to 6o%. I realized that 2020 had brought many widows, who are younger than the average age of 59. So, out comes the vision of Widows NOW, not grief support but widow support.
We need each other now more than ever. Together we can make Widows NOW become the space for Widows everywhere to feel at home. This is my first time doing this kind of project, but I know the impact of how the community can come together in times of need.
I know personally, the devastation of having the loss of a spouse can leave in the family dynamics, financially, lifestyle, socially, personally, and health-wise. Here is where I want to make a difference, will you join us?
